Earn START WITH THE WHY by sharing why you love your job and how your work makes a difference at Goodwill. Whether it’s with coworkers, customers, or people in the community, it’s about telling your story and showing others why what you do matters.

Examples:

  • Connects their personal WHY with Goodwill’s mission.
  • Reflects on why their role at Goodwill matters & share with customers or colleagues.
  • Explains how the customer’s purchase supports Goodwill’s Mission.
  • Shares an impactful story with their team, other colleagues, board members, customers, or donors.
  • Helps a new hire understand how their works impacts the community.

Build a Village

Earn BUILD A VILLAGE by being a supportive teammate and helping create a positive, friendly workplace. Join in on work activities, lend a hand to coworkers, and celebrate the moments that bring everyone together.

Examples:

  • Shares a personal story that motivates others & helps them fell connected to the team.
  • Organizes a shared workspace to improve efficiency for the team.
  • Attends a voluntary Goodwill event.
  • Helps trains a new hire to ensure they feel a part of the team.
  • Works with another department to successfully complete a project.
  • Assists a colleague in meeting production goals when they are falling behind.

Go the Extra Mile

Earn GO THE EXTRA MILE by going above and beyond at work like helping a coworker, solve a problem, or make things better for everyone. It’s all about stepping up, making a difference, and spreading positivity in everything you do.

Examples:

  • Stays late to help process a task.
  • Cleaning up an area even if the task is not assigned.
  • Volunteers to represent Goodwill at a community event.
  • Identifies and implements a process improvement for better efficiency.
  • Proactively reorganizes displays to create a better shopping experience.
  • Volunteers to help a colleague outside of their specific role to improve a customer or team experience.

Enjoy the Journey & Remember the Feeling

Earn ENJOY THE JOURNEY AND REMEMBER THE FEELING by setting goals, learning new skills, or sharing those feel-good moments that make you proud at Goodwill. It’s all about celebrating, enjoying, and remembering the moments that make your time here special!

Examples:

  • Celebrates with the team after achieving a milestone.
  • Sharing a personal success story during a team meeting.
  • Reflects on a challenging time they’ve overcome or motivated others by sharing their life wins.

Close the Loop

Earn CLOSE THE LOOP by keeping communication open and following through on your commitments. Follow up, wrap things up, and make sure every conversation and task comes full circle.

Examples:

  • Check back to ensure a solution worked.
  • Rebuild trust after a mistake by being open and making it right.
  • Revisit past projects or feedback to confirm improvements worked.
  • Admit when something was missed, fix it quickly, and share what you learned.
  • Pass along important context between departments or introduce the right people.
