Meet Veda
Veda came to GOODWILL® facing formidable challenges. With a desire to create a brighter future for herself and her child, she experienced hurdles such as limited job opportunities and unreliable childcare. It was through GOODWILL® Support Services that she was able to reclaim her aspirations and embark on a journey toward economic independence.
Overcoming Barriers
Recognizing the obstacles ahead, Veda sought assistance from GOODWILL® Supportive Services and registered for the CNC program at the Wayne County Schools Career Center (WCSCC). Securing consistent childcare through the JFS child care benefit voucher allowed her to focus on her education without the added stress of childcare uncertainties.
Crafting a New Future
Veda’s perseverance paid off as she immersed herself in the RSW coursework at WCSCC. Her dedication to hard work culminated in her graduation in May 2023 with a certification in CNC machining, equipping her with in-demand skills that would set her on a path to success in the manufacturing industry.
A Bright Horizon Ahead
With her newfound certification, Veda’s future looks bright. She now has the skills to pursue stable employment, providing a better life for her and her child. The resources from GOODWILL® not only empowered her to achieve her goals but also rekindled her lifelong interest in machines.
